This afternoon, council member Dave Neumann came into the City Hall bureau and asked to provide a brief statement about a situation in his life that has gotten some attention on the local blogs.

He read it to me and then handed it to me. Here it is.

'My wife Frances and I have been through a very difficult time this past year. After much discussion and prayer we have made the decision to divorce and move forward with our lives separately.

We continue to be devoted parents to our two young children and hope the public will respect our privacy for their best interests.

For this reason our home on Lausanne Avenue is on the market, and I am currently residing with my children on Winnetka Avenue in District 3.

I intend to purchase a home in District 3 and run for re-election to continue my service to the City of Dallas.'
